As soon as I met Katherine and Connor, I could feel the genuine love they had for each other. For one thing, Katherine had opted out of a first look with her soon-to-be groom. Instead, she wanted to wait and let the anticipation build until the ceremony at First Baptist Church in Selma, Alabama. In the meantime, she and her bridesmaids got ready in a gorgeous estate that sits right behind Swift Creek in Montgomery. This getting ready location was bright and beautiful, letting in all the natural light a wedding photographer could ask for. I can only hope for my future brides to choose a similar location!
When I saw the bridesmaids’ deep, indigo blue dresses, my heart may have skipped a couple beats. I can’t imagine why I’ve never seen this color used before! In the warm natural light, it practically danced with the rich greens of the foliage. As the bridesmaids stepped out, it was clear the color was the perfect choice for this springtime wedding.
The makeup and hair artists, Lindsey and Rachel, did a fabulous job as always. Katherine chose an updo, as did some of her bridesmaids, and their makeup was impeccable, too. As her friends helped her to get ready for the biggest moment of her life, her cheerfulness bubbled over and spilled out into everyone around her. It was amazing to watch. Even though they didn’t all know each other, all these people had come together in the bond of friendship to make sure their best friend getting married had the greatest day ever!
As I mentioned, Selma, Alabama’s First Baptist Church hosted the ceremony and reception. This was my first time to photograph at this church, and I loved every minute of it. Firstly, the setup they have available for wedding couples is impressive. I highly recommend you check out this location if you want to have your wedding in the area! Additionally, it is a (breathtaking) historical building that dates back to 1842. Both because of the history and the effort they put in for weddings, this location was a photographer’s dream.
I LOVED getting to photograph this wedding in Selma, Alabama. If you’re interested in hearing more about this venue, check out First Baptist Church. Even if you aren’t looking to book this church for your wedding, you must go see this place in person! The owners have put an immense amount of time and energy in renovation and repairs for the upkeep of it, and it definitely shows how much effort they put into it.
